New Release : Hobgoblin

Hobgoblin – A Dark Fantasy Novella

I’m excited to share my latest project with you: Hobgoblin, a dark fantasy novella now available on Kindle. Set against the backdrop of the remote English countryside, Hobgoblin is a story about ancient curses, forgotten spirits, and the enduring power of storytelling. It’s a story that explores the thin boundary between the living and the spectral, pulling readers into a world where the past never truly fades.

A Tale Rooted in Folklore

At the heart of Hobgoblin is Kara, a woman whose life is forever changed after a visit to a haunted moorland cottage. Her husband, Robin, suffers an injury—one that almost kills him. As the couple works to rebuild their lives, they begin to feel followed by the folkloric traditions that lie behind their everyday world.

A World of Superstition and Myth

The English countryside, with its misty moors and ancient ruins, is the perfect setting for a story where folklore is alive and well. In Hobgoblin, the thin line between the living and the dead is tested. The story is a conversation with the myths and legends that shape our world—the forgotten creatures, the long-buried fears, and the stories that are passed down through generations.

Kara and Robin’s journey is one of love and loss, but it’s also a journey into the unknown. What happens when we uncover the truths hidden in the shadows? What happens when folklore and reality intertwine? These are the questions that Hobgoblin explores, set against the eerie beauty of both the countryside and the historic city of Oxford.

Why I Wrote Hobgoblin

Hobgoblin is a story that came from my fascination with folklore and how stories shape our understanding of the world. I’ve always been drawn to tales of the supernatural, to the stories that are whispered in the quiet corners of the world, and to the idea that the past never truly fades. In writing this novella, I wanted to explore the way these old myths can still have power over us.

The relationship between Kara and Robin is a central theme of the story—how love and loss can lead us to confront the unknown and how the past can echo through the lives of those who come after it. It’s about the connections we share with the people we love, but also about the things that haunt us, both from our own experiences and from the world’s long history of legends and spirits.

A Dark and Haunting Novella

If you’re a fan of dark fantasy, folklore, or stories where the line between the living and the dead is blurred, Hobgoblin is a novella I think you’ll enjoy. It’s a quick read, but it’s one that lingers long after you’ve finished. It’s a conversation with the past, a reflection on the myths we carry with us, and a look at the creatures that were once believed to roam the earth, before superstition faded.
